Piper's "Cops & Robbers" In The News
August 13, 2014

Jinho "The Piper" Ferreira's "Cops and Robbers" Connects the Dots
in Officer Involved Shootings

Color of Change (http://www.colorofchange.org/) wrote in a recent petition;

Decades of entrenched police violence and racial profiling policies targeting Black youth on the basis of dehumanizing stereotypes has led to the brutal police murder of 18-year-old Michael Brown.

Those stereotypes come from somewhere

UCLA Law Professor Dr. Jerry Kang says they come from images that pound our psyche daily via TV News….

 "Unwittingly, the FCC linked the public interest to racism."

"...implicit biases have been demonstrated to have real-world consequence - in how we interpret actions, perform on exams, interact with others, and even shoot a gun."  From Abstract of Trojan Horses of Race. http://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=627381

"How we shoot a gun"  Police like everyone else are programmed by the barrage of stereotypical images in the media including print,Internet and film... "Make my Day!…"

Jinho "The Piper" Ferreira in his one man 17 character play ,"Cops and Robbers," about an officer involved shooting  addresses the problems that underlie violence.  Piper's  body of work that includes a Book, CD, & E.P. provides some solutions to the deadly force that Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo and now Ezell Ford in LA faced.  The curriculum and the culture that Piper brings forth is worth public consideration and discourse.
