San Francisco -Wright Enterprises is "pleased as punch"...anyone remember Vice President Hubert Humphrey...to share news of September's South African Wine & Investment Tour by Jennifer White's SisterCircle of San Diego.  It all began with flow of emotions stemming from a recent trip to South Africa underscored by the hospitality of Mrs. Mathabo Kunene, Founder of the Kunene Foundation. White writes:
In November 2018, SISTERcircle returned from an amazing trip to the Motherland. The bi-annual "Sojourn to Southern Africa 2018" took place November 15 - 29 consisting of three cities in South Africa, Johannesburg; Durban; and Cape Town.  It ended with a 3-day extension to Zambia, Zimbabwe and Botswana for safari.

Durban was by far the favorite place among travelers, hands down. This was mostly due to the invitation from, preparation for, and reception by Mrs. Mathabo Kunene, wife of the late beloved Professor Dr. Masizi Kunene, an esteemed UCLA Black Alumnus. Professor Kunene was born in Durban and Mrs. Kunene has been a leading businesswoman there and abroad for the past 40 years, with notable successes from Los Angeles, California to South Africa.  She has implored Black Bruins for over 20 years to invest and do business in South Africa. To quite literally reap the benefits and yield the fruits of Bruin labor in contributing to the end of Apartheid in 1994, and the subsequent opening up of economic, as well as social, political, and educational opportunities.

Renown Cameroon Film Director Jean Pierre Bekolo and Jackie Wright at the Aldophus Hotel in Dallas during the 2012 Dallas International Film Festival. Bekolo was honored by SMU.
The summit is a reminder that celebrated Cameroonian film director Jean Pierre Bekolo said there was a call to African Americans in Cameroon and that everything began in Cameroon according to their national myths. Iinterviewed Bekolo in Dallas in April 2012.  At the time, one of his friends was giving away land to African Americans.
Interesting to note Bekolo's resistance and activism around the President of Cameroon continues with an article dated April 23, 2019. Get Your Google Translate ready for non-French Speakers.  My French-speaking friends, Robin Bates & Constance Bryan of Maison Noire Américaine, Attorney Jeannette Fisher-Kouadio (Madame JFK) and Carol McGruder of the African American Tobacco Control Leadership Council, I may call on you to translate because I think there's something lost in my Google Translation: "Cameroun-Reactions: LeCeneaste Jean Pierre Bekolo tourne en ridicule les recentes declarations du president Paul Biya sur le Vivre ensemble:

International Coalition to Commemorate the African Ancestors of the Middle Passage (ICCAAMP)
USA, April 15, 2019 - The International Coalition to Commemorate African Ancestors of the Middle Passage (ICCAAMP) was formed in 2015 to organize activities that are designed to remember the millions of Africans who were sold, kidnapped, shipped then died along the route from Africa to the Americas.  ICCAAMP also honors and commemorates those who survived the transatlantic trafficking in African people known as the Maafa, Black Holocaust, and Middle Passage.
ICCAAMP has proclaimed every second weekend in June (beginning in 2016) as the international commemoration to Remember the Ancestors of the Middle Passage - the Maafa, with simultaneous activities hosted by ICCAAMP members in African-descended communities across the United States and internationally. It will begin with prayers and the pouring of libation promptly at 12 noon ET on Saturday, and continued prayer services at Black religious and spiritual institutions on Sunday - this year the dates are June 8-9, 2019. For Complete Release Click HereICCAAMP Member Letter.
