SF State, City College each receive $3 million for innovation

The Chamber congratulates partners San Francisco State University and City College of San Francisco
(CCSF) for being recognized by the State of California for supporting innovative programs that boost student success. The state awarded $3 million to support the Metro College Success Program, which helps underrepresented students at SF State and CCSF navigate their first two years of college. By creating a supportive academic home, Metro helps students confront the challenges typically faced by college newcomers, such as juggling deadlines, managing an unstructured schedule, and keeping up in tough courses.

Separately, CCSF will received $3 million to support Bridge to Success, a partnership between City College and the San Francisco Unified School District. Bridge to Success is a collaborative partnership dedicated to increasing college access and completion among underrepresented students in San Francisco.

The schools are among 13 statewide to receive one-time cash payments from the California Awards for Innovation in Higher Education, a program that provides designated cash awards for programs dedicated to improving student performance and graduation rates.
