Radisson Hotel Oakland Airport Opening

Oakland is welcoming a new hotel this month with the opening of the Radisson Hotel Oakland Airport. Less than four miles from Oakland International Airport (OAK) and about 20 minutes east of San Francisco, the hotel offers a convenient location for groups holding meetings throughout the Bay Area. The property will have 280 guest rooms and suites, an all-day dining RBG Restaurant, and over 7,400 square feet of banquet and meeting space. “Out of the Box: The Rise of Sneaker Culture” Exhibit Coming to Oakland Museum of California

Oakland Museum of California has announced a new engaging exhibit coming this month. Beginning Dec. 22, the first exhibit to explore the significance, complex design history and evolution of sneakers, Out of the Box: The Rise of Sneaker Culture will be open. Within the exhibition, visitors will view more than 100 pairs of iconic sneakers from the 19th century to the present. The exhibition will prompt visitors to reflect on sneakers as a representation of identity and sports fashion, while also incorporating community-inspired elements including what it means to be “Town-fitted” Oakland-style, a term developed to represent local fashion. Film footage, photographs, design drawings and interactive media will showcase the history, technical advancements, fashion trends and marketing campaigns that have played a role in the sneaker’s evolution. 14th Annual Montclair Village Holiday Stroll: December 1, 2016 | Montclair Village

Holiday festivities light up Montclair Village, for the annual Holiday Stroll. Christmas Tree Lighting at Jack London Square: December 2, 2016 | Jack London Square

Jack London Square's annual tree lighting event will ring in the holiday season. Guests are invited for an enchanting evening on the Oakland waterfront with holiday music performed by the talents of the Oakland youth. The event will include Santa, live reindeer, the lighting of the 55-ft. Mount Shasta fir tree brightly lit with 5,000 sparkling lights, kids' activities, tap dancing Christmas trees and more. ZooLights at the Oakland Zoo: December 2, 2016- January 1, 2017 | The Oakland Zoo

The ZooLights event offers guests a viewing of hundreds of thousands of LED lights that brighten Oakland's night sky. From December 2, 2016 to January 1, 2017 the Oakland Zoo will hold its annual ZooLights event from 5:30pm-9:00pm. The event will include a candy cane lane themed ride area, a night time adventure on the Outback Express train, rocking around the Christmas trees and a light show. Deck The Hulls- 40th Annual Lighted Yacht Parade: December 3, 2016 | Oakland Estuary

Bay Area boaters kick-off the holiday season by decorating their boats of all types and sizes, followed by a cruise on the Oakland Estuary. The magnificent 16,000 square foot, 37-room mansion that is transformed into a breathtaking masterpiece of an Edwardian holiday will be open Dec. 3-18 (Saturday and Sundayonly). Santa Slays 5k: December 10, 2016 | Merritt Amphitheatre

Oakland Symphony’s Annual “Let Us Break Bread Together” Concert: December 11, 2016 |Paramount Theatre

2016 marks the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Black Panthers, and an important time in Oakland’s history. Oakland Symphony will pay homage by performing music from the time including Motown classics, gospel and protest music of the 60’s and 70’s. This non-traditional holiday tradition will feature Oakland Symphony Chorus, Linda Tillery, Vocal Rush, Kugelplex, Mt. Eden High School Concert Choir and Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir. Mizan Dadres-Oman , 16, was last seen around 4:30 p.m. on the 800 block of Foerster Street, located towards the southern part of San Francisco. She is described as a Black teen, 5-foot-3 and 170 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
