Supervisor Malia Cohen inspires scholarship recipient at the San Francisco Business and Professional Women, Inc. 41st Annual Sojourner Truth Luncheon, June 28th at Marines Memorial Hotel.
San Francisco- Just days before District 10 Supervisor Malia Cohen was voted as San Francisco Board of Supervisor President (link to KTVU News Coverage), she called upon the more than 300 attendees of the San Francisco Business and Professional Women's 41st Annual Sojourner Truth Awards and Scholarship Luncheon to pray for Mayor Elect London Breed as forces of resistance were already lining up. 
 "From Your Lips To God's Ears," as the old proverb goes, not only did the audience of the group headed by Carol Tatum pray, but the InterFaith Council heard the call to action also.  
It should be noted that not only is Mayor Breed making history as the first woman of color to become Mayor of San Francisco;  It's the first time that a woman of color as Board of Supervisors President will be handing off leadership to another woman of color as Cohen succeeds Breed...Well, "c" naturally follows "b."

Dr. Maxine Hickman, National NCBW Board Member & then President of the SF Chapter of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc. at headquarters at the historic Shreve Building in Union Square received from Reverend Greggory L. Brown, a first glimpse of over 1,000 "Shoes for Harvey" Survivors collected at Miracles of Faith Community Church, ELCA.
Reverend Greggory L. Brown of Miracles of Faith Community, Church ELCA will represent Bishop Holmerud at the service.  The San Francisco Interfaith Council will host the special service at Third Baptist Church which is led by Dr. Amos Brown, a former San Francisco Board of Supervisors member appointed in 1996 by San Francisco Mayor Willie L. Brown Jr. during his first term as Mayor of the City and County of San Francisco.

Wright, former Public Affairs manager for the CBS duopoly, instituted the CW & KPIX Station celebrations beginning with the Latino Heritage Month Celebration in 2004. 
 
The African American Tobacco Control Leadership Council (AATCLC) is pleased to announce that the California Department of Public Health, California Tobacco Control Program (CTCP) is re-releasing an RFA (Request for Application) to potentially fund (4) African American/Black Regional Initiatives to Reduce Tobacco Related Disparities in our population. This is a significant initiative as these are five-year regional grants with an estimated total funding amount of $6,705,540. (Click Here for Article)
