MAYOR LONDON BREED AND CITY ADMINISTRATOR NAOMI KELLY ANNOUNCE $12.9 MILLION IN GRANTS FOR ARTS ORGANIZATIONS
New funding priorities reflect Proposition E's increased investment in the arts and Mayor Breed's commitment to equitable distribution of public funding announced 8/20/19
SF City Administrator Naomi Kelly (2L) next to Kathy Cotton Director of "A Place at the Table"  along with former Supervisor Sophie Maxwell (3R) supports the Arts with guests at the June 2019 San Francisco Black Film Festival Screening at the AAACC. The film about unsung Black pioneers in Silicon Valley was a crowd favorite. Community leaders such as Carol Tatum, then President of San Francisco Business and Professional Women, Inc. and Dr. Maxine Hickman, President of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women and National Board Member of NCBW, Inc. supported the San Francisco Black Film Festival.  NCBW SF gave five women work experience via its partnership between its NCBW SF Doris Ward Workforce Development Employment and Training Program and the San Francisco Black Film Festival.  It was the second year of the partnership, utilizing the festival for training with paid stipends provided by NCBW SF.
San Francisco, CA - Mayor London N. Breed Tuesday joined City Administrator Naomi M. Kelly to announce $12.9 million in general operating support grants to fund 220 arts organizations that enhance the City's cultural vibrancy. The new funding comes after Mayor Breed asked for a thorough review of the City's grant making to better support small- and medium-sized arts organizations.
