As we celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the San Francisco Public Defender's Office, we're kicking off our centennial with an only-in-San-Francisco book release & panel discussion of Jeff Adachi's new book published posthumously by Grizzly Peak Press.

Murder and Scandal in the 1930s
In his newly released non-fiction book, Jeff Adachi dives into the newspaper archives of 1932 to tell the tale of San Francisco's first Public Defender, Frank Egan, who after a long career in civic life found himself accused of murder and conspiracy. Adachi traces the trial that held San Franciscans rapt by the drama captured by a throng of reporters hungry to break the daily news.
