Half Moon Bay Farmworker Advocate Dr. Belinda Hernandez-Arriaga to attend President Biden’s State of the Union Address Next Tuesday Night

The invitation was extended by Congresswoman Anna G. Eshoo in light of the Mass Shooting of Half Moon Bay Farmworkers

Half Moon Bay, CA – February 2, 2023 –  On Tuesday, February 7, Founder and Executive Director of Ayudando Latinos a Soñar (ALAS)  and an Assistant Professor at the University of San Francisco, Dr. Belinda Hernandez-Arriaga, will attend President Biden’s State of the Union Address at the invitation of Congresswoman Anna Eshoo, California 16th Congressional District.

Since the Jan. 23rd mass shooting of seven farmworkers in Half Moon Bay, that exposed the deplorable living conditions and low pay for farmworkers, Dr. Belinda Hernandez-Arriaga and her team have been providing critical services to the families of the victims.

“I am honored and thankful to Congresswoman Eshoo for this invitation to this historic occasion,” said Hernandez-Arriaga. “I look forward to hearing from President Biden on his vision for our country, and that must include a call to action to improve the lives of our farmworkers.”

Dr. Hernandez-Arriaga, continued, “This is an opportunity for a national dialogue for how a farmworker with low wages, lack of mental health support and inhumane living conditions devolved to orchestrate a mass shooting. This attention is long overdue for a workforce that has operated in the shadows for generations.”

Dr. Hernandez-Arriaga will be in attendance with other notable invitees including Brandon Tsay, the hero from the Monterey Park Mass Shooting.
