Danny Glover

Actor, producer and humanitarian Danny Glover has been a commanding presence on screen, stage and television for more than 30 years. Glover has gained respect for his wide-reaching community activism and philanthropic efforts, with a particular emphasis on advocacy for economic justice and access to health care and education programs. For these efforts Glover received a Directors Guild of America Honor, a Pioneer Award from the National Civil Rights Museum, a Medaille des Arts et des Letters from the French Ministry of Culture, and a Tribute at the Deauville International Film Festival.
While attending SF State during the 1960s, Glover was a member of the Black Students Union which, along with the Third World Liberation Front, collaborated in a five-month student-led strike. The strike was the longest student walkout in U.S. history and was the impetus for the establishment of the first School of Ethnic Studies in the U.S. Glover was inducted into SF State’s Alumni Hall of Fame in 1996 and received an Honorary Doctorate of Fine Arts from the University in 1997.
