50/50: RETHINKING THE PAST, PRESENT & FUTURE OF WOMEN + POWER

In the midst of an historic U.S. election that could result in the nation's first female president, a new film from Emmy Award-nominated filmmaker Tiffany Shlain uncovers a surprising fact about the history of women and power. Using her signature, cinematic-thought-essay style, Shlain, the founder of The Webby Awards and one of Newsweek’s “women shaping the 21st century,” tells the story of women as leaders, roving from early civilizations led by “badass” women to the rise of patriarchy to the modern women’s rights movement. The film ultimately imagines what the world could look line when there is true equality in government, at work, and in the home.

50/50 is part of Refinery29’s Shatterbox Anthology -- a collection of films exploring the dynamics of women in power by women filmmakers including Kristen Stewart, Chloe Sevigny, and Gabourey Sidibe.

The film will premiere live at TEDWomen & all TEDx's globally on the evening of October 27th and on Refinery29 & Comcast’s Watchable platform in the U.S. on October 28th.
