100 Year Old San Francisco Eviction Fighter Inspires & Gives Back
December 31, 2016

Iris Canada made news in April and September 2016 as the trials and tribulations of her fight to age in place with a covenant she had paid for to stay in her apartment of over 50 years was being challenged as the new owner of her building allegedly wanted to skirt around San Francisco condo-conversion laws resulting in an effort to evict her.  Through it all, she remained steadfast and received support of groups like The Housing Committee of San Francisco.  Ms. Canada inspired many during the Christmas Holidays by playing Santa and giving back.  See exclusive photos shared with Wright Enterprises of her giving and her honors.

100 Year-Old Iris Canada Gives Back After a Year of Fighting Back to Stay in Her Home

Iris Canada Prepares Some Sweets for the Sweet Folks at The Housing Rights Committee of San Francisco Who Have Been instrumental in Her Fight for Justice to Stay in Her Home.

San Francisco-Believing "It's more blessed to give than to receive," Iris Canada played Santa this Christmas season to thank some of the people that worked to make sure she would be home for the holidays.  You may recall an eviction notice sent her to the emergency room in early fall after battling her landlord in court in April.  Although, all is not quiet on the western front, she has inspired many by making it a Merry Christmas in spite of circumstances.

Playing both Santa' s Helper and Santa, Iris Canada (seated left) was on hand to deliver her gift of thanks to the Housing Rights Committee
of San Francisco volunteers and Staff.

Iris Canada has been an inspiration to many.  She rebounded from her hospitalization to receive accolades and vote for the President of the United States of America.

Lorraine Taylor, Executive Director of 1000 Mothers, Honors Iris Canada as "Senior Citizen of the Year." NBC Bay Area Reporter Jodi Hernandez was on hand for the occasion.
