THE CONGRESSIONAL IMPEACHMENT INQUIRY PUBLIC HEARINGS AND OUR NATION'S FUTURE

BY ANH LÊ

The Congressional impeachment inquiry public hearings this week are historic.

The testimonies which the American people heard raise troubling questions regarding the state of our nation.

The testimonies of Deputy Assistant Secretary of State George Kent, Ambassador William Taylor, and Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch reveal the very concerning actions that have occurred from the White House to pressure the newly elected president of Ukraine to interfere with the American presidential campaign and election, through the holding up of American monetary and military assistance to Ukraine already approved by Congress.

The testimonies of Secretary Kent and Ambassadors Taylor and Yovanovitch reveal how Ambassador Yovanovitch, a stellar and distinguished Ambassador and foreign service officer representing our nation, was ousted from her post.

Her ouster by the White House has consequences not only for our diplomatic relationship with Ukraine, a sovereign nation, but also for our nation's relationship with Russia, and most importantly, the United States' own vested interests and our nation's national security.

Rep. Adam Schiff, Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, which is conducting the public hearings, is commended for his leadership and statesmanship in the United States Congress.
