Season of Black Art: Image Gallery & Black Art Symposium

Enjoy images from all four events of the African American Art & Culture Complex's Season of Black Art and see local creatives in dance, theatre, film, music, literature, narratives and business. See the photo gallery from the January 13 Celebrate Black Dance event. See videos from all of the events on AAACC's YouTube channel.

The Season of Black Art, presented by the AAACC from October 2023 t0 February 2024 with artistic direction by San Francisco native Rodney Earl Jackson, is a dynamic event series that encapsulates the essence and creativity of Bay Area Black artists across various mediums, from visual arts to music, literature, dance, and more. The season is a celebration of cultural heritage and artistic innovation, and it plays a vital role in fostering unity and pride within the Black community while sharing this rich heritage with a wider audience.

Leading up to the Celebrate Black Dance event, the Season of Black Art for the new year included a special presentation, “Creative Conversations,” with "The Wiz" cast member Olivia Jackson, who was interviewed by Aide to Mayor London Breed Tyra Fennell with Olivia providing a mini-dance class for the audience.
